No real President would send American troops to a war zone without extensive communication with the people. It's normal for DoD to have both formalized and more routine channels of communicating with the media. Do not get me wrong it does help, but the portion of the wages that becomes tax free is the premium paid on overtime. For an easy example, if you made $10/hr and had an overtime rate of 1.5x, the $5/hr overtime premium is the only portion of the wage eligible to be deducted from gross income.
