Excellent essay! Frightening. The whole regime is unfit to be dogcatchers, much less public servants.

He's TRYING to...🤣🤣🤣🙏

Yeah that’s the thing, I don’t think very many men are taking this dude seriously enough to make a real impact on what defines manhood. For as much as he wants to be included in the manosphere he ain’t there (yet).

Thank you for this information and analysis- equal parts terrifying, enraging and sad. It’s not a quirk that this country never ratified the ERA. Misogyny and racism are in this country’s DNA.

Excellent post on the psychology driving “mini-me” Hegseth!

It started so young for him

Barry Foster's avatar

Yes, it’s sad really. This story is true for many men:”absent father lost son”. James Hollis’ book Under Saturn’s Shadow would be a great resource for Pete. Rather than projecting his inadequacy on a military institution he could begin the work of healing his own damaged soul

I doubt very much he has any interest in "repairing" his damaged psyche. That would be very threatening to him, and he would reject it outright.

Probably right.

And you will find this as a through line in the Epstein investigation-all the perpetrators had damaged relationships with their fathers (not the sole factor but a big one)

Thanks Tara & Jasper: A great rap session. I have instructed my sons not to be anything like Pete Hegseth. He is still a petulant little boy who hasn't matured . If it wasn't for women the second world war could have been a loser. Who the hell worked in the armaments factories, Who were all the radio operators. If you are thinking about women who joined the resistance movements. I think of ladies like Virginia Hill "She was the most highly decorated female civilian during World War II,"born in Baltimore Maryland She had a wooden leg and still caused havoc with the Nazis as a resistance fighter. Then there ins Nancy Mace , a resistance fighter known as the White Mouse causing major concerns for the Nazis. Nancy Mace trained the male resistance fighter , she was the leader of approx seven hundred resistance fighters , all male units. When I think of Pete Hegseth I think of a man who paid $50,000 for consensual sex.

You seem to underestimate the prevalence of this insecurity. There’s a reason men are attracted to politicians and podcasters who validate these insecurities.

It includes men who were not “alpha” enough for girls in adolescence when physical attributes were important, and also those who are no longer alpha enough for women in adulthood when brawn is less important.

It’s not just Pete Hegseth. It’s a huge chunk of the male population

That's true

This sort of comic machismo might have hit differently in 1950, but today it just comes across as a caricature of masculinity. It is all so comically anachronistic that it actually accentuates the stupidity. But, this is a theme -

We haven't won a kinetic war in 30 years (Gulf War, Episode One) and have lost literally every other military conflict we've had since WWII. But now Trump wants to waste billions on cool-looking destroyers.

Modern warfare is won by nerds with PhDs, but we are blowing up education in favor of madrasas, I mean, Christian Schools.

China is now the largest producer of electric cars and the largest producer of renewable electricity, while Trump is blathering about windmills killing whales and birds.

It's like everything these idiots do is from a B-Movie from the 1950s.

When I play my guitars and songs evolve its because of a soft pic and technique.

Hegseth doesn't know what he's missing. How to feel good and do good for others. He'll go to his grave think what did I do? Why doesn't anyone like me?

What a sad waste of life. Perfect for lumpy but not because its opposite of good. ❤️🤛

Pete Hegsbreth is the scum of the earth along with the rest of the regime.

This is no man. He settled out of court on rape. He is an uncontrolled drunk. He is chauvinist. He says women don’t belong in the armed forces. He is a murder killing innocent fishermen. He is an unqualified piece of human.

Hegseth is a 2 bit wannabe punk. He is misogynist, racist, little eichmann who through no talent of his own is in charge of the most powerful military on the planet, of course under direction of Nosferatu in a suit and the orange pestilence. He abused women and removed qualified military to insert the yes people we now have in leadership. This creeps embrace of and the regime that embraces him must be removed. They have committed treason, they have made the US a pariah state, and an ally of murderous regimes

Pete Hegseth, the unofficial leader of the War on Women. Call him out.

Truthfully I don’t give a damn as to why he’s the way he is. I just want him removed from that position. Remember when the WH occupant nominated him, the qualification that he cited was that he was a good looking guy. 🤔. I don’t remember a president ever using that as a reason to nominate someone to a cabinet post.

Don’t forget… this pitiful wannabe man is not just the Secretary of Defense, he’s the self-appointed “Secretary of War”! (Chest thump)🤣

Great episode. The Hegseth Bronze Star without Valor v. LeeAnn’s Silver Star for Valor story speaks volumes: it is the Mini-me version of Trump’s jealousy over The Nobel Peace Prize. He’ll probably try to shake LeeAnn down, too, if given the chance
