Inside my unruly, revealing interview with the ex-congressman who insists he’s honest now — and still sees himself as the hero of his own American saga.
He was our congressman, and I will never forgive him or the Republicans who ran him for office, and supported him long after Santos's grifts were well known.
Tara, when I saw that you were interviewing George Santos, I decided to watch for a few minutes, feeling that I would most likely be so turned off by having to listen to Santos prevaricate, that I would quickly quit watching. To my surprise, I listened to the entire interview. My personal conclusion after hearing Santos respond to your questions, is that he would still be committing the same crimes and more had he not been convicted and served prison time. It appeared that rather than feeling remorse, he felt that he made the wrong choices only because he didn’t get away with them. I regularly wonder how many other elected officials are attracted to politics because they don’t have the intelligence, abilities, and the moral fiber to ’make it’ in any other important field and they perceive politics as a career where they can achieve power and enrich themselves through less than honorable efforts and behavior. I believe this happens on both sides of the aisle but possibly more with Republicans. It never ceases to amaze and dismay me regarding how many Americans are sucked into the lies and deceptions. I would love to see a former (or current?) politician appear on your show and openly admit and document the scams, the role of mega contributors, and corresponding disregard of the average voter while providing a detailed plan for how to correct all of it. I thoroughly dislike and don’t trust MTG, but I wonder if at some point she will feel so betrayed by Trump’s attacks on her that she will want to tell all or at least her version of it. Her recent comments about ‘toxic politics’ seem to be leaning in that direction.
I’m with Steve up there 🔝⬆️ not watching. If I can’t slap him unconscious, I’m good. After reading her take, nothing was new. A shit smear looking for exposure from shit smear lovers. 🥂
I believe that George Santos believes George Santos because George Santos would never lie to George Santos. At least that’s what George Santos has been saying.
Wow. This was compelling reading because of the examination of the man. Clearly, Tara was able to identify his psychology, see the stories George tells himself for what they are and how he has constructed protective, twisted conclusions regarding his behavior to live with what has happened.
I was watching that "interview" Tara, and Santos epitomized being the congenital and unrepentant con man. Consummate grifter without a shred of conscience or decency. Oh, the horrors of spending four months of a well-earned 87 months in prison! You should have had Warren Zevon's "Poor, Poor, Pitiful Me" playing in the background. Unbelievable.
You can give him a forum…and I can choose not to watch this one.

It was an annoying interview…. Can’t stand the asshole.. George is a consummate narcissist.. it will ALWAYS be about George…
Mental illness, left untreated, is a cruel disease

Tara you did an awesome job with this interview, and the accompanying writeup— great work!

And he’s a puke who deserves to still be in prison!
